Considering Bidding Dell Auction site for Latitude 640, but cannot find any info on the machine. The site specs say 2.0 gig processors--what gives. Can't seem to find more info on each machine's specs. What are peoples experience with this auction and with this machine? I am trying to find a deal on a good machine for my daughter. Of course I wonder why so many 640's are available. Thanks

You should consider our "What should I buy?" FAQ in the hardware forum and post there. Maybe we can find something better. Refurbed notebooks tend to come with short warranties. If something were to go wrong it will be expensive to fix. Something like a new Compaq v2000z with a one year warranty might be a better option. Good Luck.

Dell doesnt make a Lattitude 640 at the moment, so there is a fair chance that you are bidding for an old Lattitude C series machine (I have seen a couple of these on the outlet recently, strangely...).

These are pretty old technology, and have P4 processors, not Pentium M's like the current D series. The C640 has 32MB ATI graphics of some sort.

I would steer clear of it is if it is a C640 unless it is very cheap then again it could be a typo and be a current D610, who knows.
