    Hello,

My friend owns a dell inspiron 1520 laptop. The laptop upon power on does not go to bios setup. Only the power on LED gets switched ON. What could the error be?? Even the harddisk LED does not blink.
It is more than a yr old..

Is it that the hard disk has crashed?? or bios is corrupted ??

    pls help

Something is dead, and the laptop knows it. The BIOS code (power LED on) is telling you that it detects a failure on a part the computer has to have.

Try reseating the RAM and hard drive. When reseating the RAM, try booting with just one stick placed in the 'A' slot (I believe it is under the keyboard). If it does not boot, swap and put the other RAM chip in the 'A' slot.

Also, unplug the PC and remove the battery. Hold the power button for 60 seconds, then plug it back in and try to turn it on.
