    I was going to get rid of my laptop so I deleted everything out of the registry, but my boyfriend now wants to keep the laptop, what can do I to get the laptop working gain (it is windows 98)

    You went into run > regedit and deleted everything? My knowledge of it(which isnt great) tells me that u've basicly hurt windows quite badly and deleted alot of its very esential infomation. Unless you can get into dos and find out how to put all that deleted content back you'll have to reinstall windows.

    Format and reinstall the OS, given that you have a windows 98 or 2000 cd.

    if you got no os disk then your most likely hooped or download ubuntu linux. It's an excellent alternative to windows and includes alot of programs what would cost hundres in windows.

    Give it a shot.

    Or you can try to find someone you know that has a Window 98 disc.
