When will Dell be offering LED backlit screens on their line of laptops?

I think the floodgates will be opening soon enough. To date LED-backlit screens had been primarily limited to 11 and 13" laptops, but now we're seeing 15.4" LED-backlit screens, which are a much more "mainstream" size, and I expect to see many laptop makers adopt them soon.

I think HP already said they would be using them across their entire product lines soon enough, and I expect Dell to be similar.

Right, I know it's just the M1330 for now. I'm just saying that I think it is a safe bet that Dell will be using LED-backlit screens in their other machines soon enough as well.....

Yeah, sooner or later, probably not too long, it won't be just the M1330 anymore.

It would probably be a lot later as in a few years or maybe even never. Dell will probably offer LED backlighting only to their XPS in the same way that they make their XPS line have much cooler designs then their Inspirons.

I think LED backlighting is just where other technologies were when they first got rolling... built-in webcams, high-res screens, bluetooth... wifi...
SSD is also about in the same place right now, IMO.

The current laptop LCD displays have florescent lights for the backlight (with the backlight turned off, the LCD is barely visible. The LED backlight consumes less power, and has even lighting (for the laptop LCD's the lighting is not even, and some vendors use 2 backlights to make it more even) because the LED lighting is done by >10 lights and they are scattered evenly.

    Thank you... :)

I don't use it here, but there's also a matching signature that goes along with it:
