I sent my laptop in via the collect and return service to have the LCD replaced because of the grainy/sparkly effect on the screen.

After I sent it to them, I gave them a ring and asked for the part number they would replace the LCD with. I googled it and it turns out it was a 1280x800 LCD, despite me paying extra for the 1440x900 LCD. SO I rang them again and they assured me I would get the correct res.

Today the laptop arrived, I boot into the BIOS set up and check the native res, and sure enough, it's 1280x800.

I gave them a ring, and after a while, the tech agreed a mistake was made by the Dell repair service (he originally insisted it was a driver problem ) and will send out a tech, this time direct to my house.

TBH, I'm getting fed up with Dell's service. The laptop itself is fine, but they really need train their staff better. Thankfully this time, I won't have to wait a week for the C+R service to do their thing.

The LCD they gave me is also pretty downright crap, **** viewing angles and major backlight bleed. :( I have the same screen as this bloke: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=185549

I know exactly how you feel... I waited a month (hassel they screwed me over) to recieve my Vostro 1500 back. The screen was replaced due to it having a cluster of 20 stuck pixels. The new screen was AUO so I sent it back again and am awaiting word of them fixing it or not. It is worse then any other grainy screen I have seen...my gameboy advance SP has a brighter and better screen

Well, they arrived today to replace the LCD.....and they came back with the same LCD as I have now. The tech also told me the LCD I have atm is for the Inspiron 1526 and not the 1525 :| He wasn't too pleased at the screw up either and said someone will defo come tomorrow with a replacement. Gah, this is ridiculous.
