Eventhough Dell spec say 256MB is the max, but does anyone know if you stick a 512MB RAM in there, will it work?
Also, what's the HD height spec for this one?
Thanks,

I just upgraded my Dell Latitude L400 Hard Drive from the 20 GB IBM to a 60 GB Hitachi 7200 RPM. 8 MB Cache, Model: HTS721060G9AT00 Hard drive. I also upgraded the OS from Windows 2000 Pro to XP Pro.
I too would like to know if the L400 can accept 512 MB memory, and if not, if it can be modified to do so? -
If my memory serves me correctly, the L400 that I had only contained 1 memory slot and it used the mobile i440BX chipset. The chipset supported 256 MB Max per bank and only one bank per socket/slot. Chances are if you would install a 512MB stick of RAM only 256MB of it will be recognized by the system, or the entire module may not be recognized at all.
Dell L400 and 512MB RAM?
