No, and I think it's 10 cents to send one, not recieve one.

Yup...you do usually pay for both. That way the cell phone providers can charge double for the same service :p

Anyway, that is just wrong on so many levels...

Depends on the plan/service. Most providers charge to do both... thank goodness I have unlimited txt (for free).

    Depends on the carrier.

It probably isn't even from Dell, I get spam text messages from time to time anyways.

Many carriers have it set up so that something along the lines of

    "[email protected]"

Will send an e-mail to your phone as an SMS.

    Yes, it is plan contingent.

For example, the Sprint plan I have  does not charge for incoming text messages. Only outgoing.

If that is not from Dell and you sent that 'opt out' you guarantee that spammers would continue to harass you. Just like 'click here' to get rid of this spammer email too...

Did you enter your text-message e-mail anywhere on Dells site? If so they probably just think they are sending you a reg e-mail.

Isn't that illegal though? I think they have to consent to your recording before they can be recorded....

Just because you "can" do something does not make it legal.

I know I was shocked too. I do not have the unlimited texting plan, so I have to pay $0.1 for every text and $0.25 for ever video/pic text. That is both coming in and going out. It's sucks.

I do not text much, but it would suck to start getting spam texts that cost me money everytime I get them.

I never get phone spam. You should probably watch who you give your number to.

No charge for incoming texts in Canada, although I'm somewhat surprised given we get robbed in all other aspects of wireless.

Anyone who pays for incoming txts is a sucker. Shop around your providers, people.

I was thinking the same thing.

In Australia you only pay to send (the way it should be). I don't think any service providers here charge you to receive.
