can you elaborate on that? is it thermal issues? it seems unlikely there is a compatibility with the hardware since santa rosa supports the T7700. there was also a Chinese review of the M1330 with T7700.

who did you get this information from?

The Chinese site is still listing the 2.4GHz cpu as an option (though one reason I went for 2.2 was I didn't want to run too close to the margin on heat).

Remember - the environment here in China can be quite hot too.

You're right. It's gone from the SMB site (the only general store you could choose the T7700 before).

No big deal, the fastest processor was always the biggest rip-off (something like $500 extra for an extra 200Mhz over the 2.2). Just get a 1.8/2.0 and upgrade manually in a year when the price drops.

I am in the US and ordered the m1330 w/ T7700. My status as of today is "in production" and is set to ship on 8/3/07. No change or cancellation here.

I wouldn't jump to any conclusions. I never saw the T7700 on SMB or Dell Home. It's always been available through the academic websites. I just checked to make sure, and it's still an option!

As far as whether or not it's a rip-off... it's a matter of personal priority. With the academic pricing, I got the system I wanted w/ the T7700 (2MB RAM / 160GB(7200rpm) / LED / etc. / etc.) and the 3 year warranty/protection for less than $2k.

I can use the extra horsepower for my applications right now, don't mind paying for the processor upgrade (it was maybe $20 more than the list price at newegg), and I don't void my warrantly by doing my own processor upgrade in a few months. It's worth it to me to have the computer that I want right now, not the potential for a computer I want at some indeterminate time in the future.

Also ich meinte dass die anderen nicht so viel auf das Laptop warten müssen.
    Deshalb bete ich für sie.
