    Is it safe to assume, when configuring a new D820, that Dell's 1.0GB DDR2-667MHZ,2 DIMM,LAT,FACT is PC2-5300?

    PC2-5300 *IS* DDR2 memory running at 667MHz.

The way the memory industry has come up with the naming, is that the "xxxx" numbering is the peak bandwidth the memory module offers. They came up with that way back in the Rambus (anyone still remembers them? ;) ) days so that they can offer a number bigger than what Rambus has to market to people (since, your average Joe thinks bigger/higher=better).

Thus, for DDR2 memory, you have:
    PC2-3200 = DDR2 at 400MHz
    PC2-4200 = DDR2 at 533MHz
    PC2-5300 = DDR2 at 667MHz
    PC2-6400 = DDR2 at 800MHz

Thanks, Angrymob- I've got it now, and yes, I do remember Rambus- had it in an old Dell XPS.
