    Hi Dell users,

I am thinking of buying a Dell Inspiron6000 from dell.ca.
I read many topics on this forum and truly they scared me a lot about Dell.
However, most of the reviews and the topics mention older versions of the
inspiron6000. Right now there is this deal on the web site:

    Inspiron 6000
    Intel® Pentium® M Processor 740 (1.73GHz/2MB Cache/533MHz FSB)
15.4 inch UltraSharp WSXGA+ LCD Panel
    1GB Shared DDR2 SDRAM 2 Dimms
    ATI MOBILITY™ RADEON® X300 64MB HyperMemory™
    40GB 5400rpm Hard Drive
Integrated 10/100 Network Card and Modem
    24X CD Burner/DVD Combo Drive
    Intel® PRO/Wireless 2200 Internal Wireless (802.11 b/g, 54Mbps)

Overall, this will cost me 1150 CAD+tax (Canadian dollars that is).
I was wondering what kind of problems shall I expect with this configuration.
Is the keyboard on this one prone to breaking/cracking?
Is the screen really so bad? (as many people claim that they suck a lot)
Is it going to get hot? And if it gets hot, is it going to get noisy?

Truly, should I stay away from Dell or should I buy this one?

First of all, have to make it clear. This is not a gaming laptop.

    1. The keyboard is prone to wear and break over time. But fixxing it was pretty painless.
    2. The screen isn't the bightest. But its not terrible for a matte screen in my opinion. Be sure to visit Bestbuy or your local Dell Kiosk to see a 6000 ith WSXGA+ screen in person. I like the resolution but it my not fly for others.
    3. It doesn't get that hot, but I'm saying this coming from a pentium 4m notebook that you could fry and egg on. It's not that noisy either.

If you want. Fill out the 'What should I buy? FAQ' at the top of the forum 'What should I buy?' forum so we can recommend some more models that meet you're needs.

lets see if i can answer some of your questions. no it doesn't get hot, unless you are gaming. my screen looks great and only has on dead pixel. i haven't had any keyboard problems after having the laptop for about three months. as aforementioned, just keep in mind that this is not a gaming laptop. it can handly games decently at least if you get the 128 MB x300 and overclock it :) hope that helps.
