    hey! Guys..
    I've a Dell Inspiron laptop.
I've installed Win 7 Ultimate yesterday.. now my CD/DVD drive isn't working properly.. I wanna replace it..
so, for availing warranty.. I've to restore my Laptop to Factory Settings.
    What I should do?

Note: that recovery partition (factory files partition) is in its own place.. nothing had been changed related to that particular partition. But it was hidden when I was on Win 7 Basic (which came with this laptop) and now its not hidden..

Please, let me know.. how to.. get back on default factory OS?

It depends on which model you have. You have to press one of the function keys on boot. It should be in your manual If you don't have a manual, you can download a copy from the Dell website.

If the restore partition no longer works, you'll just have to reinstall using the disc that came with the machine.

And installing a different OS shouldn't affect your warranty anyway.

I guess it depends on which Inspiron you have.

I press CTRL+F11 at start-up to reboot mine to factory settings.

Of course, if you formatted your C drive before installing WIn7 then your recovery ghost is gone and you will need to start from scratch.

He means that while installing Win 7, you may have done something to corrupt your recovery partition, in which case you will have to restore your original Windows installation from the discs that came with the computer.

Start from the very beginning = Start from scratch.
