    hello all...
Has anyone tried using dells webcam manager yet? there's an option that displays the cameras frame rate when taking video captures.... the webcams that come with the inspirons are all 2.0MP and can have frame rates of 30fps. Is anyone getting 30fps?? I tried using my webcam but only get max of 7fps. any solutions? THANKS!

I just tried the webcam on my Vostro 1400 and I get 7-8 fps on the low resolutions and 2-3 fps on the high resolutions. I disabled all effects and face tracking and got the same fps numbers.

Yes the camera is able to capture at 30fps, however, when used in areas where adequate lighting isn't available it defaults to a lower shutter speed to compensate for the conditions.

For example, I am able to achieve 30fps when using the camera in a well lit area such as my kitchen with a high amount of ambient lighting.

Anyway, so far there doesn't seem to be any manual adjustment for the shutter speed, however if you select the advanced option in picture controls, you can turn off backlight compensation for some marginal improvement. The resulting effect is still wholly dependent on lighting conditions though.
