I did some searching and didn't find any thread that had some details how to do a recovery without the Administrator or Owner password. I am assisting a friend and his daughter isn't able to remember her password. The laptop hadn't been used in quite sometime due to a cracked screen that I replaced for them.

Does anyone have any information on how to do a Restore to Factory Settings using the Recovery Partition?

    Thanks in advance.

We aren't supposed to talk about cracking or bypassing passwords on this board, so please don't.

What you can do though, is just do a clean install and avoid the problem altogether.

If you have trouble with that you can start a new thread with that topic in mind.
