I want to add a second HDD/SSD to my N5010 on the optical drive bay by removing my CD/DVD drive. I have two questions regarding this.

    1. Is this possible? If so, do I have to buy any caddy for the same? If yes, pls provide a link to where I can buy it.

    2. If I install a new SATA-3 SSD as a second drive, will I get the full 6gb/s speed or will it be 3gb/s?

    1) Plenty of them available. You can get cheap ones from eBay for like $25.

    2) It will only run at SATA II speeds in either the main bay or ODD bay. Either way, you probably won't notice any difference between SATA II and SATA III.

If you want to install a ssd for improving startup time, I think you have to install the ssd in the main bay because windows will not support to boot up from odd bay on Dell N5010.
