I purchased my Dell Inspiron Mini 9 on September 7, but after waiting for close to two weeks, today it was suddenly cancelled for no apparent reason! I've been calling customer service, but they have not been very helpful and downright rude. My previous experience with Dell has been ok (not great), but this time it is just frustrating (in particular, their customer service). Now I really understand what people are talking about when they talk about the quality of Dell's customer service. Anyways, I'm wondering if anyone has had a similar situation. Thanks.

Let us know if you figure out why they did it. Maybe they have supply issues or something got screwed up with the payment process.

    Oish.... :(

I hope you find a resolution to what happened  And, the sooner the better.... ;) :) You need to get on the phone with a Supervisor, and find out exactly what happened..and how this is going to be resolved...going forward! I always say...be sure to get a *Case Number* when talking with Dell Customer care..no matter who it is!

Keep us posted to what happened.. ;) :)

So I called Dell online sales support (once again), and this time they told me that there was an internal error (for some part numbers apparently) in their system for online orders for this first batch of Inspiron Mini 9 laptops placed online at Dell and a whole batch of them got mysteriously cancelled. Now, because of this mistake, I would have to wait until a ESD of October 2/08, which is just unacceptable for a mistake in their order process. Now I'm just seriously doubting whether to try to buy for Dell again because of this situation and their laxidasical attitude about it (in effect just telling me it happened, deal with it; which for a mistake on their part, is kinda troubling). Anyways, just thought I'd share my experience with everyone here.

What do you want them to do? Screw someone else over and have you take their spot? Mistakes happen. I'm sure they're in short supply. Be happy, you'll get yours 4 days before the one I ordered today, EDD is now 10/6

Well, since it was their mistake and not mine, I would at least expect them to expedite my order (or at least give me a little compensation) since I ordered it almost two weeks ago and would probably be getting it later compared to people who ordered it later than I did. Anyways, so far it seems like it's an isolated case, but nonetheless, the point is moot since I've decided just to get another laptop from a different company rather than go through all this again. Thanks for reading about my ordeal with Dell.

Hey, again..I'm really sorry for the troubles you went thru..it's crappy that it ended up this way :(

I was hoping maybe you might change your mind and stick with the I9..but I totally understand your reasoning. ;)

The positive thing out of this.. is, that Dell is now aware of this issue and how it affected the orders, and the Customers like yourself..So, perhaps they are indeed working on some resolution w/in to see that this doesn't happen again.

It's sad though....that it happened with a brand new released netbook.

Personally, I would've expected them to *expedite* also... :( And, you have the right to ask from Dell what you want...it's if/how they reciprocate back to you...that matters!

I see you have chosen to go with another brand netbook or notebook ~ I wish you the best of luck on your search, and hope that this time all turns out positive for you!

I mean seriously, no one has any patience with this new wonder netbook. All I see is people posting every 15 minutes on how their order hasn't changed to shipped yet. And this guys laptop shipped before mine and I ordered 4 hrs before him. And I can't believe that I'm actually going to get it on the EDD instead of before.

Please I feel like I'm in Kindergarten. I'm going to request email notification of when my order ships and be happy when I get it or the machine just magically shows up at my door. If they cancel it then I'll just get a better deal when the price comes down, but I'm certainly not going to go posting on how I got screwed because I've had entirely too many good experiences with Dell to outweigh the bad.

It could be worse... you could order on 8/20 and have your estimated delivery date sometime in November... kind of like Lenovo.
