I have had my 6 cell battery working on my Dell Inspiron Mini 10 Notebook.
Now it has stopped recharging.
Firstly a message comes up saying the system cannot identify the battery and will not recharge.
The power light flashes Orange/White.
I put a voltmeter across the battery and charged it up with a Power Supply at 10V from 9.49V and it read 11.49V even though the voltage should be 11.1V. It seems the battery is holding its charge.
Does anyone know how to fix this?

Have you tested your AC adapter? Also if you use a known good battery and AC adapter, could be a problem with your motherboard.
-
There is nothing wrong with the AC Adapter because it charges the 3 cell battery that came with the Notebook.
So you think it is the motherboard?
What do I do?
Why does the Notebook not identify the 6 cell battery but identify's the 3 cell battery now? -

If the same AC adapter charges the 3 cell no problems, then you likely have a bad battery? Is it a genuine Dell battery?
-
How can I make the notebook identify it? It did before. -
rdhariwal - I am having the *exact* same problem. Did you ever get a solution?

Not yet Hawthorne. I do not know what to do. I have even taken the battery apart and measured the voltage as 11.4V on a voltmeter.
Help someone??? -
Bumping, same issue here. Grasping at straws.
I bought my Mini 10 from a friend, but it was unused, and has a genuine Dell battery. I would buy another battery, but I've yet to discover if the problem really is with the battery, or rather the laptop.
Anyone make any headway with this?
