I am using an usb external aluminum enclosure case to clone my outdated Hitachi 80 5400rpm hard drive that is currently on my C: drive on to my new Hitachi 320gb 7200rpm hard drive. I'm using EaseUS Todo Backup to clone but my Dell does not recognize the 320gb hard drive that is connected through the external usb cable. The strange thing is that under Computer Management it recognizes my 320gb under disk 1 so I don't understand why it doesn't read it. Despite all this, I tried cloning my drives and it seems to be working but it stalls toward the end and so I had to exit the cloning process without finishing. Any ideas on how to clone

Try turning on the external hard drive before plugging it into the USB port. I use EaseUS Partition Master Professional, but i'm sure their freeware Home Edition should work just as well EaseUS Partition Master Home Edition.
