I reformatted my laptop and now i dont have sound. I put in the service tag on dell.com to get to the drivers and they have everything BUT a sound driver. Under the device manager there isnt even a sound device listed....help!

In device manager, it says i have 2 PCI Device drivers that arent recognized and i cant find drivers for this anywhere....is that why my sound wont work? How do i fix this?

In Device Manager, do you have a device listed under Sound? If so can you right-click on it, select uninstall, and retry installation.

    It lists:
    Audio Codecs
    Legacy Audio Drivers
    Legacy Video Capture Device
    Media Control Devices
    Video Codecs

I cant uninstall the "Legacy Audio Drivers" there is no option to uninstall it, ive tried. But reguardless, it wont let me install any sound drivers because it says there is no sound card because i cant get the drivers for the pci device.

This is so frustrating, doesnt anyone know how to help me? lol

If that's all that Device Manager lists then I suggest something may have gone wrong during installation. Every computer that I've seen lists a lot more than just those five components. You ought to be seeing a list like this:

What version of Windows are you running? Perhaps you should perform a system restore or just flat out reformat again.

What i typed is just for Sound and audio, i have the rest too. The major problem is that 2 PCI Devices arent being recognized and thats why i have no sound...i just dont know what to do on how to install those 2 pci devices, any ideas?
