I just got a Dell Inspiron notebook yesterday and after turning it on I quickly realised it was full of crapware. Being that I'm experienced with computers I wasn't scared to just format and start over. Unfortunately, I'm having a lot of issues with my drivers. I know what hardware I have but the drivers I try to install are giving me errors or when I attempt to install them tell me the hardware doesn't exist. My video driver seems to work fine but i constantly get an error at start up CLI.exe application error and when I try to install my soundblaster audio driver it says the hardware doesn't exist. THe only driver cd dell sent me was the soundblaster one and it doesn't even work whats up with that? I know that the drivers I have are the correct ones so what am I doing wrong? I tried installing them in the order dell specified on their website even though I've never heard of having to install drivers in a specific order and that still didn't help. I've never had issues like this before and I'm a little annoyed. Any help would be great...

That is where I've downloaded the drivers from and a few don't seem to work. I know that they are the correct drivers since I took note of them before the format.

For the ATI drivers, Catalyst Control Centre requires you have .NET Framework v2.0 installed. Get it here.

Not sure about the sound card though...

Well that fixed up the Catalyst Control Centre thx. I've tried all the drivers dell has for Integrated Sound Blaster® Audigy™ HD Software Edition unfortunately nothing has worked. Also my modem driver doesnt work either (not that I care all that much) but I do care about having sound.

The audigy software isn't drivers, it's just a software package. You need to first install the sigmatel drivers for your sound.
The modem seems to be tied into the audio... No biggie, just install those drivers too to keep everybody happy. :D

Your modem driver is under the Communications category. For the sound card, uninstall SB Audigy, then install Sigmatel drivers (might need to do this in safe mode). After that, you install the SB Audigy driver.

Do you have any other devices missing drivers in your device manager?

Your soundcard is not Audigy, no matter what u ordered it's a Sigmatel 9200.

Thx for all the replies I figured it out last night after I read somewhere else on the forums that the Soundblaster software was just that software and not a driver. The modem problem resolved itself once I installed the right driver for my soundcard. I wish I had known that soundblaster software was just enhancement software and not a driver in the first place. Could have saved myself a lot of trouble.
