    I'm sure many of you guys have asked this question before, but...ya.

    Does anybody know when the new BIOS for the Inspiron series is coming out? Specifically, the A01 BIOS for the 1420?

    Oh. I was just wondering if there was an issue that you hoped the new BIOS would fix. Usually I don't worry about that kind of thing -- if you're not careful you can brick your computer (my roommate, bless his heart, did this :p).

    Well, there is one thing specifically.

    When I play music, my audio sometimes crackles and "pauses" during playback...

    Try going to the Dell website and download the audio driver for the 1420. In Device Manager unistall the audio driver and then without rebooting, install the new downloaded driver.

    ive already tried downloading the driver again.

    But the BIOS...anybody know about that?

    The new BIOS for Vostro 1400 has been posted today (also a few other drivers/apps within the last few days). That suggests the Inspiron 1420 should have some updates posted soon too.

    My 1420 already has A01 BIOS. However, the verion on Dell's website is A00.
