    Hey all,
Thanks a lot for the replies to the last post. I'm finally taking the plunge and buying the dell. The config is in my signature. Does anyone have any ideas as to how good/bad is the heat management system on Dell Systems as i expect my lappy to generate a lot of it ?

    Thanks a lot in advance
    Cheers,
    Abesh

My 6800 does generate some heat but it's manageable. Idles on 48-50 C (CPU) when browsing around (when at home since I don't have A/C) and GPU at 58-60C and even jumps to 62 after a long period on. Considering I live in a really hot place, room temperature might get to 40C.

The 7900 GS is meant to be low power and since I don't know the output of the 6800, I wouldn't know how much power efficient is but I believe is more efficient than mine.

I have an e1705 with a 7800 card in it, which runs a few degrees warmer than the 7900. Dell does not provide a program to manage the fans manually, but thankfully a new beta program of I8kfanGUI was released. Normally, my notebook was about 75 degrees, but with the fans running on slow at all times, my temp is at a very nice 60 degress, even with an optimal overclock. This temp is very good!

You can check out the program here on this thread: http://www.notebookforums.com/showthread.php?t=153915

    Enjoy your new notebook!! :D

It gets pretty hot you might need to buy a cooling pad
