    The maximum RAM for Dell Inspiron 8000 is stated as 512 MB (256 + 256). Has anyone tried or heard of using 512 +512?

    Also, just out of curiosity, what happens if you exceed the maximum RAM in a notebook. Does it just ignore what it cannot utilize?
