    I love my little 700m, the HD is on it's way out, am amazed it lasted so long (bought in 2001). I called Dell, spoke with TWO reps (I gave them my service tag #, link to page I was ordering from) that told me a WD1600BEVE (Western Digital 160 GB Scorpio Blue 100 Mb/s 5400 RPM 8 MB Cache Bulk/OEM Notebook Hard Drive - WD1600BEVE ) WOULD work with my 700m but it doesn't. It's just a little too short for the pins to meet & the pin formation is a little different. I would love to upgrade to at least 120GB but can't seem to find the appropriate HD, can anyone advise me?

    You are probably missing the HDD adapter that goes between the HDD and the motherboard. Any standard 2.5" PATA HDD should indeed work.

    @Commander Wolf:
    You're brilliant! Did not realize what was on the end of the original HD, but after reading your post, examined the original closer and ended up pulling an extender off the old one, put it on the new one & now it WORKS! Thanks! :)
