Hallo!I own a Dell Inspiron 6400 laptop.I have installed both Windows XP and Red hat Linux.

Recently, when I clost the lid in both OSs,the machine reboots. This is strange considering that in Windows,I have configured from Power Options in the Control Panel for the machine to do nothing when I close the lid.

What could be the problem and how do I solve this?

    Thanks.

Check to see if the control board right beneath the monitor is loose or out of place. It's possible that the power button i getting hit by accident as the lid is going down or that board is flexing for some reason.
