    Hi, currently i own a dell inspiron I6400, intel core 2 cpu t7200 2.00ghz, 2046mb ram and a NVIDIA GeForce Go 7300.

The problem is it came up with the bsod saying memory parity error, i am not sure what this means. When i went to reload the computer the right half of screen was lit but black and the left side has white lines down it. I started it up in safe mode and the audio works, however anything to do with the graphics card causes the computer to crash. The whole screen is squashed into the left half of the screen and the settings wont change.. I asked around and it turns out my graphics card is solderd to the motherboard. So it cannot be replaced without replacing the motherboard..

Just to annoy me more this error occured after purchasing a new battery and ac adaptor.

Any ideas on what is wrong with it? is there any cost-effective way to save my laptop? if not any recommendations on a good new one for around £600???

    Thanks Sean.

Test it on an external display? If you're getting the same issue, your video card is probably dying. The Inspiron 6400 does have a replaceable GPU though (assuming your original GPU was a discrete chip), so it is possible to save the machine without replacing the motherboard.
