When i log into my account, the screen blinks 'once' after 3 to 4 seconds of logging in.The same thing happens when i switch user and again log in to my account.Any reason why the screen is blinking.

sounds like a (software) bug. try to reinstall the the gpu-driver, if that dosent works, reinstall your OS (xp/vista).

edit, you can also use "driver cleaner", before you install the "new" gpu-driver, (takes away a lot of bugs). but the best way to get rid of bugs, is of course to reinstall the OS.

    Hello,

My name is Mike, I’m a Technical Analyst located at Dell corporate headquarters in Round Rock, TX. I’m part of an internet outreach team developed to interact with the online community regarding technical questions and issues that customers face with Dell products. I read your question and wanted to chime in.

The screen briefly blinking like this is normal, or I should say it’s nothing to worry about. What you’re seeing is the final driver initialization. This happens on desktops from time to time as well. Some TSR applications may also cause it to do this, but again, nothing to worry about. I have a notebook that does the same thing, (just logged on right now to make sure I wasn’t just hallucinating), but yes it’s normal. Now, if the screen starts blinking like a night at bad 70's disco club then yes, you may have a problem with a loose connection or a faulty driver at which time some troubleshooting (or your favorite rendition of “The Hustle”) would probably be necessary, your choice. I hope this helps.

    Thank you,

    Mike

I noticed the same thing happening with the 640M that I bought for my mom. I'm relieved to know that the quick blink immediately after logging in is normal.
