Is it possible to swap out my Dell Inspiron 6400 CDRW/DVD drive with my Dell Latitude D610 DVDRW drive? They appear to be the same size but I noticed that my Dell Latitude D610 has that little module release clip on the optical drive. Would this cause an issue or am I able to swap them out with no problems.

    Thanks

Should be doable without any issue.

You should see that any non standard addons (like that release clip) screw off to be easily removable.

May sound like a dumb question, but what will keep the optical drive in place with out that little module release clip

You should swap the faceplates on your will be fine. The lock mechanism is on the drive itself.
