Hey guys, I want to get a Dell Inspiron 6400 but am not a business and when you go through the checkout process Dell asks you for your Business name.

Can I just throw in a BS business name or would it actually have to be something legit?

The price difference between the E1505 and 6400 are not too big, the 6400 is about $80 cheaper, but thats enough to let me add a 7200 RPM HD.

    thoughts? tips?

    TIA

    -Tim

i don't know the answer but you could just put your name if you want. many persons "do business as" insert title here. on the other hand, what could dell do if you put JJ's Potdealer Inc.?

In my view, it is Dell's job to set that fence as high as they want it. This is not a legal matter but a marketing issue.

Choose a plausible business name, submit, and wait. If they don't object, obviously they want your business. I bet you'll have no problem.

You can order from the Dell business regardless of whether or not it is in fact for a business. Many do it every day.

Make it up. You don't need to own a business. :)

I put my name as my business and I have the laptop so it doesn't matter.
