My Dell Inspirion 600M hard drive died.

I am getting a new hard drive now, nut I lost the Original Recovery CD so I cannot install the Windows XP Home Edition ...

Does anyone have an ISO copy of it? Is it easy to install?

I don't want to install pirate copy on it.

    Thank you.

Call Dell up and see if they'll get you a replacement. Else you can borrow an OEM or retail XP disk from someone and use your laptop's key. The installation should be as straightforward as a standard Windows install, though you may have to call up MS to activate the installation.

Called Dell and they need to charge me $30 for the CD, crazy!!!

I thought only Dell CD can work with the COA KEY under laptop.!??!

I will ask around and see if any friend of XP CD.

Would XP Home Edition COA key work on a Professional Edition CD in turn install Home Edition Feature?

Any CD will allow you to install Windows on a Dell computer, but only Dell CDs will automatically activate your Windows installation. When using a generic Windows CD, you will need to manually activate your installation, most probably by calling Microsoft and telling them that you need to use your Dell key on a generic installation.

The XP Home CoA will not work with an XP Pro CD.
