I have a Dell Inspiron 6000 for about 4 years almost. I have 512MB but am going to buy the 2GB ram from newegg because it is very slow. I am also formating my laptop as well as my desktop. Most of the time i use my desktop but for my laptop i bought a charger that was CHEAP and i think it messed up my battery life a bit. I just purchased a new charger from Dell and will throw away the bad charger i have.

My battery life in my 6000 is about 40 minutes. It used to be 2 hours and 30 minutes when i first got it. A few months ago it was actually 1 hour and 20 minutes. My neighbor has a e1505 and his battery lasts like 5 minutes now so all he does is use his charger.

I see on Ebay from reputable sellers that the 6 and 9 cell battery price is pretty close. 6 Cell is about 44 dollars and 9 Cell is about 48 dollars.

    6 Cell one

    9 Cell One

The thing is i will be using my laptop about 99 percent of the time at home. I know i could just save money by using the charger but i kind of prefer moving around with it since its a laptop. Would you guys suggest i purchase the 6 cell or the 9 cell? Would it be stupid to purchase both since I will be using it mostly at home? I know people say use 9 cell if you need extra battery life but i have the charger already but just prefer to move around the house.

I know my battery from Dell the original one is 6 cell and i know the 9 cell one makes your laptop not flat on the table.

Can someone tell me how long 6 cell and 9 cell each last on a full charge?

Also, i read on that ebay seller site that using 6 or 9 cell is better and cheaper than using a charger in terms of electricity spent. Is this true?

too many varibles to give ya battery life ....9 cell maybe 50% more viewing time....saw one review, the reviewer had the lighting turned down.. and easily watched a 3 hr video on a 6 cell....the other review with the 9 cell, the reviewer was on his insprion 6000 for 5 hours. , yes..i do believe the 9 cell will be problem sitting flat...for what you are doing..get the 6 cell..i had a 6 cell in my insprion 6400<allmost the same thing> and it was okay..had no real problems...

i really don,t think there is much difference in using battery or ac adapter,,,battery will need to be recharged....remember one thing, the battery only has a finite number of charges,,,us ac adapter when available...and pro-long the life of the battery....they are expensive

I have never regretted using a 9-cell battery.

When I have the AC Charger in I remove the battery to preserve its life.
