    Hey
My friend has a dell inspiron 5100 with windows XP SP-2 installed on it. She can connect fine thru the wireless card she has bought. But when she tries to connect thru the built in NIC its gives teh "no network connection or network connection is limited" phrase business.
I've tried downloadign the latest drivers from teh dell site and installed them, but that didnt work. I've checked under device manager and checked the properties of the card...the card is shown there and it doesnt have that yellow triangle that shows up if there's a conflict. So i'm fresh out of ideas.

Maybe someone here had the same problem?

First what is she trying to connect to? Have you tried a crossover cable? And can you verify that the cord, the router/modem whatever is good? Also make sure if you are on a router that the Wired lan is turned on.

hmm try a crossover cable with it just to make sure for somereason the dell doesnt like patches. But thats far fetched.

Try updating the drivers not from dell, but figure out who the chipset maker is or rolling back.

Well I know the cable and router works fine. When I hook up my laptop (averatec 6100) to their network thru teh same cable she is using, the laptop works fine. But when I plug in hers, its tries to look for an IP but just gets teh network connection is limited text bubble.
