Anyone upgrade the screen on this?

I want to, but it doesn't look like the included LVDS cable has all the wires necessary.

If you have, where can I get a cable that works? I don't care about the webcam.

Well I found the motherboard schematic.

The page with the LVDS info is 21. This is a pdf of just that page.

I guess I should find a dell laptop with a resolution great than 1336x768 and see if the layout matches up?

EDIT: Well damn, I may have found it.

New LVDS Video Cable for Dell Inspiron 15R 5520 7520 5525 DC02001IC10 CNNGH | eBay

Cable looks just the same as what I have, and it supposedly supports the Dell 7520 which is a 1080p screen. From the picture the model number of the cable is QCL00. I'm going to try to find the motherboard part number and see if the LVDS schematic matches up.

edit again: R4WW7 cable is probably what I need. It says FHD on the ribbon cable.

Will look more into it. If I can find the 7520/5520 motherboard schematic without paying for it I would be happy.

    EDIT: Found the schematic.

The pin layout seems the same, but what each pin does is sometimes different. I don't know much about this stuff, but I think it's worth a shot... Any thoughts?

Well I got the cable. I also riskily bought the screen since I was in a rush and it looks like it was going to work.

At first I tried the screen with the single channel LVDS cable, booted up and everything looked fine up until I got into windows, then no display. Enabled low resolution mode and I got picture but the colors are all off, still viewing angles were great compared to the terrible screen I have now.

Tried the new cable I bought, perfectly fits into the motherboard and webcam port. Got everything connected and nothing, no display. The laptop seems to post but I just have no display, I don't think it's actually going to windows because only one LED is on when usually when in Windows it's something like 3 or 4. I also can't remember that well but I believe hitting the power button turns off the computer, if I was in windows it would have put it to sleep. If I disconnect the cable from the monitor or the motherboard then I get beeps while trying to turn it on and I know for sure it doesn't POST. Tried the original display and same thing.

Used the old cable and it works just fine with the crappy display. Tried the new one again and this time I don't get a signal. Well at the boot screen the display was all grey and there was a thick bright stripe going vertical across the center of the screen. Edit: That seemed to be a one time thing, no display now at all. This happens for a second and then no display. I connected an external monitor and the display is detected in Windows with the single channel cable. However now even if I choose a lower resolution I still get no display.

I haven't tried the external monitor yet with the new cable, will do that shortly.

Any progress upgrading the screen? I bought an Inspiron 3521 w/ no screen or keyboard. I have a higher res LED screen that's been sitting in my closet for a couple years that I would love to use, but if it won't work then I will have to look into a cheapo 1366x768.
