My Dell Inspiron 2200 only works with battery. The power supply can charge the battery but when I turn the laptop on it operate always with the battery. I tried removing the battery but the laptop didn't comes on. Looks like if the laptop is unable to operate using power supply input.

Well then that means that the connector that supplies power to the motherboard from the AC adapter is shot. The AC adapter and some connections are good since you say the battery does get charged, but obviously something along the way between the AC and mobo is not working right.
I don't see what the problem is here. You can have the computer plugged in to keep charging the battery, while the battery is keeping the computer on. Thus you will never run out of battery (since it's continuously being charged). -
The power supply charge the battery while the laptop is off, but when the laptop is on then the battery start to discharged, so I can be using the laptop while last the battery charge, then I have to turn off the laptop and wait that the battery charge again.

I am having basiclly the same problem with my inspirion 6000. When I plug in the power supply it charges the battery but the screen goes black. When I unplug the power supply I have to shut down the computer re start it then it works fine on battery power until the battery runs out.It is really annoying as the battery only last about 1.5 hrs.I changed the inverter, lcd panel, and backlight at the end of September due to the backlight and inverter going out, everytjhing worked fine til this weekend. This problem started with a small black burned looking spot on bottom right corner of screen when plugged in, not htere when running on battery. Took bezel, etc. apart to look for burnt, crimped or cut wire(s)- nothing, the next day is when the screen started blacking out when plugged in. Any ideas????
