    Hello

I just received my Dell laptop. The reason I picked a 17 inch laptop was to add a ssd for systemdrive and a 5400 rpm for storage. When I opened it up there was no connector for a 2nd hard drive? Could i fix this by myself with spare parts? Or could I use a adapter cable from the msata to sata?

On the picture i have installed an ssd drive and taken out the 5400 rpm drive. But now I want to install the 5400 drive. If i can't use the 2nd sataport, could i use a opticbay instead?

That is not OK my friend, tell this to those who sold it. You should have it replace. From my knowledge, all have a standard 2 usable SATA 3 bays and one mSATA. Your laptop is defective if not stated somewhere that there is no second SATA. Just ask them what's going on.

I Spoked to dell now. They said to me to return the laptop if I was unhappy with it. It seems that if I want two drives I have to choose the 17r SE instead. The laptop is for my girlfriend and she do not need all the specs in 17r SE. Have anybody tried to but a hard drive in the dvd slot? She never use the Dvd drive..

    Thanks for the answers

I was not paying attention. You are right. I can't say I have heard of anyone to swap the ODD with a SSD in a 17". But since it works (almost) well in a 15", I see no reason why in 17 would any different.

Still, I think is not OK to strip down versions like this. I am an old Dell user and I find it bit shady.
