As the Inspiron 17R SE is quite a large there will no doubt be some trouble finding cases and bags that fit it properly. I'm sure that not all cases and bags that are advertised as up to 17" will fit it well.
What case or bag do you use to transport/protect your 17R SE and does it fit?
I will try and keep this post updated with bags that definitely take the 17R SE and those that don't.

I use this bag Amazon.com: Belkin 17-Inch Messenger Bag (Jet/Cabernet): Electronics
It fits the laptop perfectly, has plenty of room and pockets for the huge adapter and lots of other stuff.
Highly recommend it! -
Thanks, added

I have a Swissgear Mythos case which I got for £40. I like it very much. Plenty of pockets and compartments.

actually, i think you'll find the Mythos shows as a 17" case - as seen on the label that was attached to the case when i bought it - and this link:

It fits my 17R SE perfectly. i wouldnt have bought it if it didnt fit. -
Ah ok cool, I think they make a 15 inch one too. Pretty sure I've seen it around. Added. Thanks
I'm hoping for a few more owners to throw in their experiences. I'm particularly interested in backpacks myself -
I am using the Dell bag that was offered when i bought my 17R SE, it fits perfectly and it's a nice backpack with lots of pockets and features. Bought for 80$

Yep, exactly this one, i like it very much.

Thanks Rassal, added to the list. Hopefully we can get a few more owners to chip in now. I'm sure most do have a case or bag for it.
I went and bought one of these as the dimensions it states are slightly bigger than the Dell back pack. So hopefully it will be alright.
Edit: Hopefully the laptop sticking out at the back is just to show where it goes and not how the laptop will fit inside -
Bump. Are the other 17 R SE owners carrying their laptops in their pockets or what??
The bag I bought arrived the other day. Seems really nice, haven't gotten to try it out yet with the Inspiron but going to test it with a 17" Vostro this weekend -
I saw today, that on the Dell backpack, you have some sort of a sleeve, that you can removed from a hidden pocket at the bottom of the bag and then you can, with an elastic contour, cover the whole bag with a nylon cover to protect it from rain or so, very clever!

Updated list.
Come on people, add your bags -

I recent picked up the case logic RBP-117. Lots of pictures on amazon so I won't post them here. I like the bag, lots of room without seeming bulky. The pictures show a spot for storing a 10" tablet, but there are actually two spots. I'm using the one that is used for magazines, it's lower to the ground and doesn't cause as much sagging.

Shoulder Bag: everki advance laptop briefcase
-The everki bag is nothing special, it does however have excellent build quality including metal strap clips. Plastic ones always concern me.
Backpack: Targus Notebook backpack upto 17.2" laptop
-The Targus bag has an insulated pocket for hot/cold foods, pretty sweet. It does fit at least 4 beer too =D
