    Hi,

Can anyone tell me if the Sata port used for the internal optical drive in the Dell Inspiron 17RSE (7720) is a Sata 3 6gb/s or a Sata 2 3gb/s?

I know the 2 internal Sata 2.5 drives are SATA3 at 6gb/s and that the MSata is also Sata 3 at 6gb/s... but i dunno if there is a 4th one for the optical drive, this would be awsome.

    Thanks!

Ok... since no one could provide the answer, i got it for ya...

Since i got my ODD/HDD Converter drive, i have been running tests around, and the SATA port on the Optical bay is only SATA 2 at 3gb/s. So you can put an HDD in there, or a not so fast SSD... but don't expect very high transfer rates you can have on a Sata 3 6gb/s because it's only a 3gb/s...

Hope it helps some of you.

No idea for sure... i know mine is sata II at 3gb/s... but never tried a Sata III msata there... think this is the only real way to tell... just like i did with the optical drive slot.

Has anyone been able to confirm whether or not the mSATA port is capable of 6gb/s?
