I have a dell inspiron 1721 laptop that I purchased about 1.5 years ago. I had purchased the extended warranty. Since I received it, I have been back and forth with Dell because the device has just never worked properly. They have sent out a repair tech a few times yet the problems continued. After a lot of persistence, I have gotten Dell to replace the device. But they are telling me that I will get a "used" device equal to or better (one step up) from what I have now. They will not give me specifics and I'm a little worried about what I am going to get from them. Has this happened to anyone else and what did you end up getting - a bigger problem than what you started with?

just make up some BS like you have glaucoma or cataracts and just tell them make sure they include the 17 inch RGB LED screen that way your ensured to get a 1737.

as if the guy in India over the phones knows or cares.

You'll get a use or preowned 1737 that someone sent back and got refurbished.

    major score for you.

if that doesn't work. focus on one specific component to make sure you get a kick system, like tell em make sure it has a ATI 3650 because your damaged 1721 could not run Vista properly

Did they say refurbished instead of 'used'? This would be the common practice from Dell, but the refurbed units are just as good as new ones. I buy them from the Dell with considerable savings over a new notebook and don't have any trouble with them.
