One time I ordered a harddisk upgrade to come with 7200rpm 200GB; they say it takes 3 months to arrive. Then I called the second time and they say you can place and order immediately and receive the package in just 2 weeks.

Just don't trust the employees at Dell, each time when you call each different employee gives you different grandma stories.

    What the Hell!.........

    They're all freackin' LIARS then.............

Well to make sure......can I please ask anyone who had bought an Inspiron 1720 lately and included in their configuration the Nvidia 6800gt 2m6mb videocard as their option, can confirm this mixed up,whether its reall yonly a DDR2 or GDDR3 memory???

Mind you the website don't say any details anymore for that particular card if its indeed ddr2 only or gddr3..........

They even told me to call them up just to make sure though............

So please anyone can HELP and clear this thing up coz really can't decide whether to buy the inspiron 1720 or not???

thanks a lot........i think that closes the fate of the 1720 as for me........

might as well opt for the XPS 1530 or just wait for the Inspiron 1735........maybe theyll put the GDDR3 8600GT there........hoping......

Again from the dell site... there's no mention of the memory speed for the 1710.

    Vostro 1700

    Thanks for letting me know.
Edit - never mind, I see in the tech specs tab where you found the information. Too bad the 1710 doesn't say.

Sorry for double posting. According to the guy I talked to in Dell chat, the 1710's graphics use DDR2 as well.

Maybe when you ask Dell if the rams are GDDR5, they will confirm that...i was chatting about my Inspirons' screen and Dell rep. says that LED display is also avalaible...so...don't always believe them ;) you do better if you ask real technicans here in forums :)
