I'll be purchasing my very first notebook here within a month. I'm switching from a Desktop. Notebook will be mostly for webdesign stuff (Adobe products and Flash) with the posibility of a few games as I used to be an avid gamer (Medal of Honor & Call of duty Series). I barely play any games though so this laptop doesn't have to be built for games. I'm just looking at a decent laptop that will run pretty well and that has a chance of actually playing games (nothing like Crysis) from time to time!

I can't decide which notebook to go with

The Dell Inspiron 1720.. here's the basic specs

    Cpu: Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T9300 (2.5GHz/800Mhz FSB/6MB cache)
    Monitor: LCD DISPLAY Anti-glare, widescreen 17.0 inch display (1440 x 900)
Ram: 4GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 667MHz, 2 Dimm
Hard Drive: 250G 5400RPM SATA HDD
    Video Card: 256MB NVIDIA® GeForce® 8600M GT

    ----------------------------

    Dell Studio 17

    CPU: Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T8100 (2.1GHz/800Mhz FSB/3MB cache)
Monitor: Hi Resolution, glossy widescreen 17.0 inch WLED display (1440x900)
Ram: 4GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 at 667MHz
Hard Drive: 250GB SATA Hard Drive (5400RPM)
Video Card: 256MB ATI MOBILITY RADEON HD 3650
    ---------

Thank you all in advance for those who will find the time to reply and help me out. Thanks again.
    Cheers.
    Rob.

for cooler look go with the studio. I think the Inspiron would be slightly better performance wise. the geforce 8600m gt (in my opinion) trumps the ati hd 3650. As for the processor, the T9300 is a lot stronger and proficient than the T8100

I'd get the studio 17. I don't even think that the 3650 is really slower than the 8600m gt. It also has a better feature set (standard remote, fingerprint, hdmi, LED screen!!!) but than again, the inspiron 1720 has a considerably faster processor.
