I just got this laptop for £399 from PC World. It stated that it had a 120gb hard drive but when looked at it in my computer it says its only 99gb, there is also a recovery disk which it 9.99gb.
So can someone tell me where the other 20gb has gone to.
Thanks....

Usually when you buy a laptop it says more than there actually is due to the operating system and bloatware on your PC which takes up space. So 100 is your computer available space, 10 is your recovery disk(which I'm unsure as to what that is), and the missing 10 is the OS and programs pre-installed on your laptop.
Someone please correct me if I'm wrong. -
Part of the difference is due to whether the size is being reported in decimal or in binary. Computers report size in binary, hard drive manufacturers always use decimal because it makes it sound like the drive is larger.

So a 120 GB hard drive is really more like 111.76. -
