I've heard a lotta people say to get the 9 cell battery upgrade for the Inspiron 1720 for increased battery life but I was just wondering if anyone knew the battery life of the 6 cell. Anyone?

I'd also like to know people's thoughts on this.

The battery life of the 9-cell should be half again as much as the 6-cell.
I usually get between 4 and 5 hours using the 9-cell on my 1720.
That's using "balanced" mode, doing homework, watching avi videos, web browsing using ethernet -- nothing too intense and wireless is disabled. That's a bit of an estimate because I don't like draining the battery too far down and usually plug in the adapter when it drops to around 30%. So I'm going partly by what it estimates it has left around the 30% mark. But on a full charge, it often estimates it has 5 1/2 hours left and I've never actually seen that.
I haven't done any gaming on it. Not yet anyway.
When creating and installing on virtual machines in VMWare, the battery life seems closer to 3 or 3 1/2 hours.
I have the WUXGA screen. -
Thanks alot - very helpful to know you get that much life.
Edit: I'd really like the 9 cell except that its an additional $170 -
I get a good 2hrs50mins with the 6cell,surfing on the net through wifi
