    I recently got the Dell Inspiron 15r-2nd Gen. The laptop is working fine, except for this occasional crackle sound. It's not very loud and only a slight disturbance. It's not my headphones I switched headphones and still had the same problem. Thanks for your help.

    Hi,
    Have you tried turning off SRS?
    It may or may not resolve your issue.

    Have you reinstalled the audio driver? I've seen that affect many generations of Inspiron (1564, N5010, and N5110)

    How would I reinstall the sound driver? I'm on my device manger and under sound i get these options Bluetooth Audio, IDT High Definition Audio CODEC, and Intel (R) Display audio. Thanks.

    Reinstall the IDT High Definition Audio CODEC.
    Which has the SRS bundle with it.
    Have you tried disabling SRS?

    Hi,
    Start Menu -> Control Panel -> IDT Audio Control Panel
    SRS -> OFF
    Have a look through the different tabs and try disable/enable various settings while your there and see if there's any difference.
    eg: disable the jack sensing or Andrea Microphone Technology
