Hey everyone. I am buying a the dell inspiron 15r for my sister. I see that the default color is mars black. Can someone tell me if it is a fingerprint magnet whether its on the lid or the palm rest? Is it really heavy? Would you recommend it? Does it have fan or shutdown problems like that of the studio 1558?

my GF got pink. palmrest is like a greyish. no finger prints really.

Thanks tvdang7. Do you know if she got any problems with the laptop such as heat or improper shutdowns?
Anyone else can chime in? -
My wife got mars black. Finger prints are visible, but not really disturbing due to the color structure. The Studio 15 with satin cover would have no problems with finger prints at all.
I also experienced no heat, noise or shutdown problems with the following configuration for the 15R: i3-350, 4GB Ram, 320GB HD, Radeon 5730 1GB, BT, WLAN 6200
A friend of mine has a Studio 1558 with the same config and also no problems. The Studio is a little bit more expensive, but the quality of the keyboard and the notebook structure seems to be better. I also especially the backlit keyboard. -
You going to get it from Dell outlet?

I bought my Girlfriend a Pink 15R and overall we really like it.
Not really a finger print magnet IMO.
My 1564 is a real finger print magnet!
You can literally see the finishes are totally different.
I have a Metallic black notebook and you can see every single finger print.
On the 15R it's like it has some kind of coating to prevent finger prints.
When I ordered the notebook a higher point the the 15R was that it has a finger print resistant body they told me.
The notebook is actually pretty light if you get the 6-cell battery.
If you get a 9-cell battery it will be a few pounds heavier.
I would totally recommend it.
If you look in my history I did a review over the 15R and 1564 Inspirons.
I do not believe they have that problem you are talking about.
