    Hi,

My inspiron 1545s warranty is due to expire is about 14 days. I was unsure if I should renew it. Hear are the prices I have been quoited:
Here are the service offerings for your computer.

    1) Extension of 1 year Next Business Day Onsite Service warranty £60 Including Vat.
    2) Extension of 2 year Next Business Day Onsite Service warranty £90 Including Vat.
    3) Extension of 3 year Next Business Day Onsite Service warranty £120 Including Vat.

The rep that contacted me has not been willing to budge at all on price at all the last time I renewed I got a 20 percent discount straight away has anyone got a significant discount? The rep also stressed how prices would go up on monday and if there was a problem that cannot be fixed I will get a brand new laptop. The laptop has been going strong for at least a year now Im not sure I even want to put any more money into it. Are the mostly things to go wrong with it easy to fix?

    Thanks

It's up to you. Basically if Dell for some reason can't get parts, or they are severely back ordered, they would consider replacing the unit entirely. TBH, 1545 parts are dirt cheap, screens, palmrest, motherboard, keyboard, it really is up to you. It's also pretty easy to fix yourself...I've fixed too many.

the most expensive repairs are the LCD screen and the motherboard.

Both as reasonably easy to replace yourself

the LCD is only covered with the accidental coverage

Average price is about $ 100.00 for a LCD or main board.

60 pounds seems not too bad, but what was the orignal price you paid in the UK

the inspirion is about a $400 - $500 laptop here.

Do you plan on keeping the laptop for much longer? As other's have said, 1545 parts are fairly cheap nowadays.. I bought the cpu in my sig for $35 shipped her on nbr. Only reason I bought it was because my bro wanted to try his hand at repasting on his 1545, one thing lead to another, and for some reason he removed the stock T4200 and bent some pins..

Thought I might as well pick up some ram while I'm replacing the CPU, so I nabbed the ram for $65 also here on NBR.

My brother is a much lighter user than I am, and I noticed last time we both visited home at the same time that his screen is a fair amount brighter than mine.. everything else on the laptop has held up pretty well though.
