    Hey guys,

I have ordered a charger for my cousin from Amazon and the DP/N that my cousin gave me was 0XK850 , today I got the charger and the DP/N on the product was 0nx061 and I noticed that the plug that connects to the laptop is rectangular , I am trying to contact the seller but I need to send this to my cousin in another country in 2 days.. did they send me the wrong order or this charger works fine?

I looked up on Google and it shows different opinions so I thought I would ask

Is the plug rectangular, or circular but with flat edges? Some new laptops use the flat edge connector, which sounds like that you're describing.

Older laptops can't use the flat edge connector, but new laptops are backwards compatible and can use the round ones.

What is rectangular, the charger brick or the connector? There are several different shapes of the charger brick, so as long as it is Dell OEM and not aftermarket, it should be fine.

There are multiple part numbers for the AC adapter (depending on the supplier), so the part number is not a good indication of compatibility. Instead, you'll want to verify the charger type, ie. PA-2E or PA-12.

There are many cases where different charger types are compatible (for example, the PA-2E and PA-12 are electrically identical, but the brick shape is different), so if you can find out the charger type of his original adapter and post the charger type of the one you purchased, we'll be able to tell you if it will work or not.
