This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved.     Dell Inspiron 1545 X-Fi Problem

    So, the first thing I did after getting my laptop, customized with the X-Fi sound option, is installing Windows 7 on it. However, the MB drivers posted on the Dell website won't work on Windows 7, even after messing with compatibility mode and such.

    Help? I looked everywhere, there's only *one* version of these drivers and it's not working, as it seems to be a patch for an existing version, which does not come on the DVD that dell puts software on.
