My hard drive failed about a week ago and I just got it replaced. Now as I'm going through and ... setting my settings... I've realized I can't scroll like I used to. Before the problem, I could scroll by clicking the left and right buttons in at the same time and just moving the cursor up and down. I could also scroll using the side of the touch pad. It's completely thrown me off. Also, when I turn the volume up and down, I have to click on the icon in the toolbar instead of just using the controls on the keyboard. Another thing I found out just now is that when I press caps lock it doesn't alert me on the screen. I went from windows 7 to windows 7 and it's not nearly as convenient as last time.

    HELP...caps lock error... Help please.

Reinstall the touchpad drivers. Or find the specific drivers (Alps vs Synaptics)

The FN keys aren't affected by a failed hard drive. You might have more underlying problems.

The problem started when I got the new HDD. I assume just the settings changed. I installed the drivers (Alps) right after I installed the OS. I'll check the BIOS. Thanks and I'll let you know how it works out.

Just did a W7 install on this model. Installing quickset did the trick.
