Hi, I've had a search through the forums and see quite a lot of posts discussing upgrading processors on the 1525, but I'm still unclear as to my options when it comes to upgrading the processor.

I use my 1525 (with 4Gb ram) for video editing a lot, and now I'm using HD, rendering is taking hours and hours, despite using another PC to assist via the network.

Can anyone give me some ideas of what processor will fit and work in this machine please?

    You have the PM965 chipset.
You can use most socket P CPUs that have an FSB up to and including 800mhz.

I would get a penryn CPU (45nm tech).
T8100, T8300, T9300, T9500 would all be on the top of my list.
They should run cooler than similar merom CPUs.

    here is a good thread:

Wow, thanks for the quick reply.

Looks like it may be the T9300 for me, best price is £201 (inc VAT) unless anyone knows somewhere cheaper.
