    Dell Inspiron 1520 weird splash sound?

    hi can anyone help me? my Dell Inspiron 1520 makes a weird click then splash sound from the notebook itself every 3 mins or so! does anyone else get the same problem? and on startup windows does not boot everytime? i then have to turn off the notebook and try again! im my computer dying? help! :eek:

    Not sure what you mean by 'splash' as I've never heard that sound coming from the guts a computer before. But if you hear a 'click' coming from the notebook(not the speakers), and this didn't happen before, then it's probably your hard drive dying. Back up anything that's important to you before it's too late.

    Note there have been 'clicking sound' issues in the 1520, and there was a fix for that problem(just search the dell forum), but the problem on those users was there since day 1

    thanx! ive only had the notebook 3 months, but i got a virus in the first 3 weeks! and i had 2 reinstall everything! could this of done it?

    but it runs fine apart frm that! the sound comes frm the left hand side like the clicking sound everyone is on about but its hard to explan the splash watery sound afterwards! any ideas on why windows does not boot everytime?

    its the hard drive's head parking. its normal.

    swt thanx! any idea bout why windows xp does not start sometimes? sometimes the dell screen takes awhile to load then there is just a dash in the top left corner and xp doesnt kick in!?
