My screen just shuts off sometimes. It goes black and i may or may not be able to get it working again. Pushing buttons on the keyboard or moving the mouse does nothing, nor adjusting the display's brightness. When it goes on i can hear the "da-dam" sound that Vista makes when you connect/disconnect something to/from a USB port.

It is very annoying as you might deduce...

Oh, and also, moving the screen doesn't seem to do anything except sometimes when i close it all the way down. But just sometimes.
There isn't a pattern, that is the ideea i'm trying to relay. It is random and annoying.
I'm running Vista SP1 and i have 185.20 drivers from nvidia.

    Any ideas?

check if you have video in an external monitor, you can also boot into safemode to see if the problem still exists.

I have video on an external monitor. Booting into safe mode isn't an option as it does this at uneven intervals. It may work ok for 2 weeks and then it starts shutting off again.

Backlight or inverter problem? If you consistently get an output on an external display when the onboard display isn't working, you've most likely got a problem with your backlight or inverter...

Yes, well i can't find out if it works constantly as I can't always have an external monitor hooked up to the laptop.
